In
the Acts 2 account of the life of the early church, Luke writes “Day by day, as
they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate
their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of
all the people.”We have found that like
the early church, sharing food together enriches our life together as a
community and strengthens our hearts to worship and honor God.
Reba
Place Fellowship has a long tradition of potluck dinners as celebration, as
remembrance, as communion, or as another way that we can share together. We share potluck meals after the first Sunday
worship service of the month at both RebaPlaceChurch
and LivingWaterCommunityChurch, as well as Fellowship
potlucks once a month.
Every
Monday night, RPF hosts a
community potluck that is open to visitors and neighbors. Monday night potlucks originally were held in one location (the Cana household), but have been dispersed into several houses in order to meet the needs of an ever-growing group of attendees. Monday night potlucks begin at 6:00 and are
followed by a small group prayer time and seminar. This weekly event has become a connecting
point for a lot of young people being introduced to Reba and intentional
community.
If you are interested in visiting on a Monday night, please contact our hospitality co-ordinator, Celina Varela (847-328-9822), who can direct you to one of the host houses for that evening.
