The
Reba Place Fellowship apprentice program has four main goals:
-Discipleship training
-Community living
-Neighborhood Service
-Activism rooted in prayer
The
Apprenticeship is a September-to-May immersion in community for young people
interested in investigating communal life and discerning their call to
Christian community. Apprentices experience life similar to that of Reba Place
Fellowship members, working part time jobs to cover their living expenses. Weekly events include Bible
study, Fellowship members meetings, a weekday evening
potluck and seminar, gathering with a Fellowship small group, and other times of worship and reflection. Living arrangements for apprentices vary,
with some in established Fellowship households (usually a mix between young and
old, single and married people) or in single-sex apartments.
The apprentice group gathers together within the larger community setting for Bible study, shared meals, and other apprentice-initiated activities. Past and current apprentice groups have experimented with various
common practices such as shared finances, prayer times, meetings for
discernment, and celebration.
The
Apprentice program director (Celina Varela) and the chairman of the
Intern/Apprentice Committee (David Hovde) walk closely with the group along with their small groups, mentors, and other supportive community members.
Apprentices
often take part in various ministry and service opportunities around Reba Place
Fellowship, Reba Place Church, and Living Water Community Church. To see a list of
(paid and unpaid) possibilities, visit the work opportunities page.
